Ballroom Newsletter – October 29th 2013
Dear Dancer,
Three new announcements this week:
First, starting in November, we will be going back to our Winter hours for the Saturday night dance sessions: 6:00 – 7:00 pm for the class and 7:00 – 9:00 for the open dancing.
Second, again starting in November, we will be altering the structure of our (your) dance week thusly: instead of teaching the same dance at both the Weed (on Wednesdays) and Mount Shasta (on Thursdays) Wellness Centers, we will offer a different dance for each location. So, in November, on Wednesdays at the Weed Wellness Center, the dance for the month will be Cha-cha, while at the Mt. Shasta Wellness Center, the dance of the month will be Waltz. We will continue to rotate the classes so that each location gets a chance to do each dance.
And finally (third), we would like to pass on to you all a chance to dance socially that is coming up this weekend at the Mt. Shasta Brewery in Weed. This event is sponsored by the Mt. Shasta Brewery and will happen on Friday night, November the 1st from 7:00 – to 10:00 pm at the Brewery in their upstairs dance space. We have taught there ourselves in the past and it is a lovely sprung floor about the size of (not coincidentally) a hand-ball court. It is a good place to dance and a fun place to dance.
There is no charge to attend, though it is hoped that you will indulge in the beverages and snacks and meals available at the usual fair prices. Dance and dinner. How atavistic is that?
The dances will be “heavy on swing, with some foxtrot, waltz, cha-cha, tango, and a couple west coast swing numbers” and will be recorded. Sounds like a fun night and we encourage you all to attend, especially those of you who have asked us where you can go to dance socially. This would be a good place. (Should this be successful, it could become a regular venue.) If we get back from the big city (Redding) in time, we may even show up ourselves.
In the mean time, come to class so you can go out and shine.
See you on the dance floor.
