Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – May 10th 2016

Dear All,

Congratulations are in order for your instructor Rick for his triumphant return from The International Dyslexics-With-Tourette’s-Syndrome (DWTS) Scrabble Championship held in San Diego this year (some of his winning words: shosela, hits, prac, purmt, tec…).  We are both of us so proud.

But on to your triumphs (by which we mean your ever-broadening and ever-deepening dance skills).  This month Tango joins us on Tuesday nights and Samba is joining us on Wednesday nights.  Quickstep is continuing into Thursday.

We are also teaching the technique behind Quickstep (and beyond) in the Saturday morning Technique class, so this is going to be a quick stepping month.

Because Samba skipped the Beginning class on Tuesday, it is going to move a little slower than the usual Wednesday Intermediate/Beginning class to give any beginners a chance to learn this energetic and fun dance (don’t worry, it will still move fast enough to keep the intermediate people happy).  Don’t miss it.

And, of course, the Thursday Quickstep class is going to fly.

See You There.

(formerly Dudes& Daisies Lodge)

1315 Nixon Rd, Mt. Shasta Ca

Saturday Mornings: May 7, 14, 21, 28

9:45 – 11:45 am

This month’s dance:  Quickstep

9:45 – 10:45 am:     Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities.  Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Lowering, Rotation, Swing, Cant and Sway.  Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all of the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression.

And that is just too much fun to miss out on.   So what say you give it a try?

10:45 – 11:45 am:      Amalgamations.   Putting the drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual steps of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floorcraft and yourself.

COST:  $15/person

               $10/person youth discount

NEXT MONTH (June):   Waltz
