Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – July 26th 2016

Dear All,

Can you believe it?  Another month come and gone (almost).  Here it is the last week of July and those of you who have come to class have not regretted it at all.  I can’t speak of those of you who haven’t come to class; I can’t hear you over the sounds of wailing and gnashing of teeth as well as the repeated sounds of slaps to the foreheads and the chorus of “DOH!”s.

Give your vocal chords, teeth and foreheads (and the chorus) a break and come to classes this week.  You will always be welcome and your skills will develop that much more quickly.

And, if for no other reason, come for the AIR CONDITIONED DANCE STUDIO. . .if for no other reason (reasons like improved balance and coordination, stronger mind/body connection, the development of grace and style, the warding off of Alzheimer’s, the chance to approach a challenge and find yourself equal to it, the strengthening of self-esteem and confidence, the chance to make a new connection with a loved one, the ability to dance, the…what? Oh.  Peggy says that’s enough).  If for no other reason.

See You There.

Saturday Morning Technique Class

Mt. Shasta City Park

Shasta Park Dance Hall

(AKA Dudes & Daisies)

1315 Nixon Rd, Mt. Shasta Ca

Saturday Mornings: July 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30

9:45 – 11:45 am

This month’s dance:  FOXTROT

9:45 – 10:45 am:     Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities.  Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Lowering, Rotation, Swing, Cant and Sway.  Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all of the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression.

And that is just too much fun to miss out on.   So what say you give it a try?

10:45 – 11:45 am:      Amalgamations.   Putting the drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual steps of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floorcraft and yourself.

COST:  $15/person

               $10/person youth discount

NEXT MONTH (August):   Foxtrot (again!)
