Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – September 11th 2017

 Dear All,

Another week, another few figures of dance.  Step by step (so to speak) you are building up your repertoire of dance figures.  Dance figures are like words; the more you know, the more thoroughly you can communicate, the more things you can “say” (as it were) with your dancing.

And the more options you have when it comes to maneuvering around the “Savage” (as it were) Dance Floor.  You will be able to sail by the butter hazards, the halted leaders who stop to tie their shoe lace in the middle of the dance floor, or easily dodge the kitten-carrying toddler newly escaped from its harness and tottering out into the flow of the dance like a low-lying rock in a river, or leave the heel-treading hot shot behind you in the dust, or graciously circumnavigate the tortoise-paced (but majestic) elderly couple right in front of you slowly (but grandly) perambulating down the hall.  To name just a few of the benefits of a greater “vocabulary”.

Dance figures are you friends, your tools, your weapons (if you will) and your salvation.  The more you know, the more likely your success, the better your chances of creating beauty, the greater your triumph, the higher your accolades.  And, most important of all, the greater your own enjoyment as you push the envelope of fun to heights hitherto undreamed of.

But where do you learn more dance figures? In dance class, where else?   Join us this week and build your vocabulary, your armada of steps with which you navigate the tempestuous seas of the open dance floor.  In short (if it is not already too late), come to classes this week.

See you there.
