Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – October 2nd 2017

Dear All,

October already and as Autumn sets in with a vengeance, how are we to keep warm?  It almost makes you long for the days in the dim and distant past (a couple of weeks ago) when we were all worried about how we were going to keep cool.

Well, you will be glad to hear that, though there was no way to dance to keep cool (only to look cool), there is a way to dance to keep warm, and that is: to simply dance.  The warmth of exercise, the warmth of firing up the brain to learn new things, the warmth of acquiring new skills, the shared warmth of partnership.  And the best part is:   though you are dancing to keep warm, you will still look cool.  Especially in our classes.

So let’s heat this cold October up with dance and also begin to rev up our metabolisms for November.  Rumor has it that it’s just around the corner.

Come to dance class for your weekly dose of skill, knowledge, health and, now, warmth.

See you there.

Dance Lodge

1315 Nixon Rd, Mt. Shasta Ca

Saturday Mornings:  October 7, 14, 21, 28

9:45 – 11:45 am

This month’s dance:     WALTZ

9:45 – 10:45 am:     Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities.  Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Lowering, Rotation, Swing, Cant and Sway.  Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all  the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression.

And that is just too much fun to miss out on.   So, what say you give it a try?

10:45 – 11:45 am:      Amalgamations.   Putting the drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual steps of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floor craft and yourself.

COST:  $15/person

               $10/person youth discount

November Dance:    Quickstep (really, this time)
