Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – January 15th 2018
Dear All,
Big news, everybody! The College of The Siskiyous is courting us again to start holding classes at their Campus in Yreka. We will be holding an Introduction to Ballroom Dance class in which we will be teaching the most basic (easiest) steps in ten different dances (Foxtrot, Rumba, Tango, Cha-cha, Waltz, Salsa, Swing, Night Club Two Step and Bolero) for a five-week period.
If this class goes (gets enough people enrolled) it will happen on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 – 8:30 pm starting February 6th, 2018. It will be in Building Two, Room 7. We will be spending an hour on each dance (two different dances each evening. This class would be the perfect place for the absolute beginner to . . . well, . . . begin (absolutely!).
For those of you (probably in the Yreka area) who would like to enroll, you can do so on-line at the COS website, go into the College itself to sign up or simply show up on the first day of classes and we will sign you up then. The course number is 3450 and the section number is 0313-01. (You can find it in the catalogue under Spring Semester 2018 “Fitness & Well Being” XFW).
Unfortunately, this means that, for the month of February, we won’t be holding the Tuesday Beginning class at The Wellness Center (but we will be back at the Wellness Center again in March). We will not be eliminating the Tuesday Night Class, just suspending it temporarily, for the duration of this class.
The good news is that, in February, we will be running the Wednesday class at the Wellness Center more like a beginning class (perhaps at a slightly faster pace), so beginning dancers will still have a place to start. The Thursday class will remain as it is.
If enrollment levels aren’t reached for the COS class, we will continue as usual with the Tuesday night class at the Wellness Center (which will be Swing).
If you have any friends who would be interested in leaning the basic steps of almost all of the different Ballroom Dances, pass this e-mail on to them. Or come yourselves to develop your basic skills and acquire a cross view of how the dances relate to each other.
We will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Just e-mail or call us (or ask us when you come to class).
Be Seeing you all in class(es).
