Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – September 10th 2018
Dear All,
The rash of fires we have been having has been affecting all of us, and we would like to extend our gratitude to the Fire Fighting Force for their efforts to protect our lives and livelihoods.
One of our classes was affected by the fire last week, when all the traffic from the I-5 closure was re-routed to highway 89 (thereby turning it into a giant parking lot) and we were unable to make it in for the Wednesday night beginning Swing/Jive class at the Wellness Center.
The good news is that this coming Wednesday (9/12) has become the first Swing class in the series, and if you had also been prevented from making it into class last Wednesday, you haven’t missed anything yet. So: come one, come all; come dance.
The bad news is that, with all this smoke in the air, Peggy is turning into an ash-blonde and I am becoming ash-bald. We are coping, so please, no letters or card of sympathy, no flowers, no gifts. We’ll be fine.
Back to the topic of good news: The Fort Jones class meets this Friday and we will be beginning a new dance – the Bolero. We find Bolero to be one of the most enjoyable dances on so many levels and look forward to bringing it to Fort Jones (and anyone else who would like to join us there).
So, this Friday we’ll be starting a brand new dance and we look forward to seeing you and all your friends and all your acquaintances, including the random stranger (and, what the hell, encourage an enemy or two to show up as well, if only for the purpose of humiliating them with your superior dancing skills!).
Welcome to September.
Be seeing you (in class).
