Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – October 15th 218

Dear Dancers,

Nothing funny has happened this week (not even in Washington) so there has been no parasympathetic vibrations in my funny-bone (not THAT funny-bone! And not that kind of funny!).   So: through no fault of my own, no funnies this week.

Swing class is going full bore, with everyone having a great time (as well as learning how to dance).   Still not too late to join the fun!

The Thursday night class is also being fun (remaining a Bolero class at the behest of the students whilst pretending to be a Waltz class to the general public – perhaps reflecting just a hint of subversiveness on the part of all involved).

And the Saturday morning class is still helping dancers achieve their full potential as dancers, just as it was meant to do at its inception.

And tomorrow (Tuesday) is the last day to sign up for the Salsa class in Yreka at the COS campus (2001 Campus Drive).  Show up at 6:30 pm (to 8:30) in Room 7 (Building 2) and we will have enrollment forms for you.  It’s a nice small class so you will get lots of individual attention as well as learn one of the world’s most popular dances!

Come join us in each and/or every class.

Be seeing you.

Saturday Morning Technique Class

Mt. Shasta City Park

Dance Lodge

1315 Nixon Rd, Mt. Shasta Ca

Saturday Mornings:   October 6, 13, 20, 27

9:45 – 11:45 am

Dance:   Waltz II

9:45 – 10:45 am:     Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities.  Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Lowering, Rotation, Swing, Cant and Sway.  Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression.   Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.

And that is just too much fun to miss out on!   So, what say you give it a try?  Eh?

10:45 – 11:45 am:      Amalgamations.   Putting those drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual Figures of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floor craft and yourself.

COST:  $15/person

               $10/person youth discount

November:  Quickstep
