Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – February 25th 2019
Dear All,
So how about all this snow? A good time to stay in and cuddle up with a good book? A good time to snuggle into a big comfy chair with a big mug of hot cocoa? A good time to pull the covers up to your nose and stay roasty-toasty in bed all day?
NO! A good time to challenge the Universe and brave the elements for a whim, that’s what I say! A good time to assert the mere fact that you are alive by confronting nature in all her majesty by going out and dancing in the face of mortal peril, that’s what I say!! A good time to let the cosmos know that you are you, however insignificant that may seem on a galactic scale and no mere fall of some powdery white substance is going to dictate to you what your choices and activities should or should not be, that’s what I say!!!
Who would ever have guessed that the simple act of taking a dance class could be a statement of universal emancipation? So if you don’t come to class for the dance, come for the aggrandizement of the human spirit, of our dreams and of our very beings! Or . . . that cup of hot cocoa is also beginning to sound pretty good! . . . Your choice!
For those of you making the right choice, the following information will be pertinent (for those of you making the wrong choice, the following information will be impertinent):
Firstly, for the COS class on Tuesday, we have been authorized to hold a make-up class on March 19th (the week following the last day of the series) and we look forward to seeing you there then (as well as in all of the classes in between). And don’t forget, COSers (and anybody else) sign up now for the next session beginning April 2nd (info below). We do intend to be there Tuesday night (2/26) unless, of course the college closes again, in which case we will try to contact you all in time. You can also check the College website. We certainly are going to!
Secondly, due to the number of classes missed throughout February because of the weather, we have decided to continue February’s dances at the Wellness Center (Foxtrot on Wednesday, Cha-cha on Thursday) through the month of March, catching up to where we should have been and adding more steps. Beginners are still welcome to the Wednesday class.
And Thirdly, the Saturday Technique class will move on to Waltz since Saturday is well ensconced in March. It will also be a good place for beginners into the rich, rewarding world of the technique that will make all of this . . ., well, richer and more rewarding.
See you all there.

Saturday Mornings: March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
9:45 – 11:45 am

Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression. Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.
And that is just too much fun to miss out on! So, what say you give it a try? Eh?
