Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – March 4th 2019
Dear All,
Well here we are in March already. We are thinking of starting a movement to change the name of “March” to “Dance” and making it a month dedicated to dancing. Let us know if you would sign a petition. Our motto for the process right now is: March or Dance – you decide!
We choose Dance, which makes today Dance the Fourth, so let’s get on to it. Don’t forget, this month’s dances at the Wellness Center will be exactly the same as last month’s dances, Foxtrot on Wednesdays and Cha-cha on Thursdays due to the number of classes that were negatively affected and even cancelled by power failures and snow storms. This will give everyone a chance to more fully develop their skills in each of these dances.
While the dances will be the same, we will be adding new and more interesting steps (as well as reviewing the ones you have already been taught), which will give you all more steps through which to have more fun. In dance as in language, the larger your vocabulary (of steps) the more expressive you can be and the more options you will have.
And to develop correct “enunciation” and “grammar”, come to the technique classes on Saturdays. Learn how to “speak” real good! The fluency of speech becomes the fluidity of dance. Join us and watch yourselves get better faster!
Finally, we want to reassure you that we will be holding the COS class this Tuesday evening (March 5th). The weather conditions are not even close to slowing us down and we are definitely going to be there to teach. New dances tonight: Tango & Cha-cha.
Don’t forget to sign up for the next series starting April 2nd (registration info just below).
See you all there (each and/or each and every).

Dance Lodge
1315 Nixon Rd, Mt. Shasta Ca
Saturday Mornings: March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
9:45 – 11:45 am

9:45 – 10:45 am: Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities. Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Lowering, Rotation, Swing, Cant and Sway. Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression. Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.
And that is just too much fun to miss out on! So, what say you give it a try? Eh?
10:45 – 11:45 am: Amalgamations. Putting those drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual Figures of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floor craft and yourself.
COST: $15/person
$10/person youth discount
April dance: Waltz II/ Viennese Waltz
