Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – April 1st 2019

Dear All,

A new month, a new dance series (at COS), a new Dance at the Wellness Center (Rumba), new steps -also at the Wellness Center (Foxtrot) and new skill levels (in the Saturday Technique class).  All of this scarcely two weeks into a new season.

We want to encourage all of you to embrace your own newness and join us.

Tomorrow night (Tuesday, 4/2) at COS our next series commences with four as yet untaught (in 2019) dances: Waltz, Samba, Swing/Jive & Salsa.  You will learn the basic steps of each of these dances, more than enough to hold your own on any dance floor.  And have fun doing it.  Please join us.

Then at the Wellness Center, we will be introducing the Rumba on Wednesdays (a really good place for beginners to start) and continuing with the Foxtrot on Thursdays.  We look forward to having you join us there as well.

And for those of you who are wondering how to improve more quickly, The Saturday morning Technique class is the place for you (this month Waltz).  It is these classes that will accelerate your rate of learning and speed up your progress as well as significantly deepen your understanding of Ballroom Dance, movement dynamics, balance & Power.  We would really enjoy having you all come to this class.

So, there is a place for everyone to join us.  So join us.

Be seeing you all in class.

Dance Lodge

1315 Nixon Rd, Mt. Shasta Ca

Saturday Mornings: April 6, 13, 20, 27

9:45 – 11:45 am

Dance:   Waltz

9:45 – 10:45 am:     Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities.  Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Lowering, Rotation, Swing, Cant and Sway.  Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression.   Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.

And that is just too much fun to miss out on!   So, what say you give it a try?  Eh?

10:45 – 11:45 am:      Amalgamations.   Putting those drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual Figures of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floor craft and yourself.

COST:  $15/person

               $10/person youth discount
