Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – June 10th 2019
Dear All,
Did you know that Bolero was named after Beauregard Le Reaux, the man who invented it? He was a classically trained Ballroom Dance aficionado who so deeply loved both the Waltz and the Rumba that he wished there was a dance that incorporated the most beautiful & enchanting aspects of both.
But, alas, there was no such dance so he took it upon himself to create one. His friends and ballroom colleagues said it couldn’t be done, but he remained unfazed and forged on. It wasn’t easy but his love finally won out and he succeeded in developing one of the most beautiful, enchanting & deeply rewarding of dances, to the delight and edification of succeeding generations of dancers.
Join us this week and find out for yourselves how satisfying/gratifying and how much fun learning this beautiful dance can be. The class is still at its most basic level and there is plenty of room for you. And you . . . and you . . . and you as well. And your friends, too. We have a surplus of personal attention these days and look forward to lavishing it upon each and every one of you.
Come to the Bolero class and we guarantee that, like us, you will every day offer a silent prayer of gratitude to Monsieur “Beau” Le Reaux for his generous donation to the culture.
And of course, as always, the Tango keeps getting Tangoier (more fun, more dynamic, more passionate) and the Rumba/Cha-cha are so much fun we can barely contain our students in that class and (for the sake of using one more “and”) don’t forget the Foxtrot on Saturdays for learning how to move out and learning how to fly.
So come to any of the classes or, better yet, come to all of the classes this week (and every week). Don’t forget, there is going to be another Dance Party (or Practice Party, if you prefer) on the 28th of June (a Friday) at Lake Shastina (more details later this month) and the more dances you know, the more fun you will have whilst there. Whilst dancing. Whilst we are all still alive and kicking (though, ironically, there are very few kicks in Ballroom Dance).
Be seeing you all in class.

Saturday Mornings: June 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
9:45 – 11:45 am

Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression.
