Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – August 26th 2019

Dear All,

How can it be the last week of August already?  Why, it seems like only last week it was the next to the last week of August!  Man, close your eyes for 86,400 seconds and bam! just like that – it’s next week already!  Well, let’s make the best of it.

Air-conditioned classroom.  Let me say that again: air-conditioned classroom.  Vigorous dance, yes, but . . . allow me to reiterate, air-conditioned classroom.  For a week that is being touted as going to be one of the hottest weeks this year, an air-conditioned classroom might be just the ticket.  And in case I haven’t said “air-conditioned classroom” enough times already I will say it one more time:  air-conditioned classroom.

AND DANCE CLASSES!!!  Still not too late to jump (literally) into the Tuesday night Samba class.  Nor would it be too late to ease into the Wednesday night Waltz class.  But as we will be bidding the fondest of fond farewells to the Bolero this Thursday night, it would probably be best if you had some dance experience before joining us in that class.  Still . . . the more the merrier we always say.

I know the weather will be temping us to finish August with a whimper, but we say, let’s finish August with a bang! Come to dance classes before school season officially begins and get the jump on everyone else!   And besides: it’s dancing.  Need there be any other reason?  No, that’s what we thought.

Be seeing you (in class).

Saturday Morning Technique Class

Mt. Shasta Park

Dance Hall

 1315 Nixon Rd.

Mt. Shasta, CA

Saturday Mornings: August 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31

Dance:   Latin Technique! (Rumba, Cha-cha, Samba, Salsa & Swing)

9:45 – 11:00 am:     Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities.  Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Hip Action (Rotation, Sinking, Isolation,  etc.) Foot action (motility, bounce, control, etc.), Arm Action & Rib-cage action (Isolation, Side Extension, etc.).   Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression.   Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.

And that is just too much fun to miss out on!   So, what say you give it a try?  Eh?

11:00 – 11:45 am:      Amalgamations.   Putting those drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual Figures of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floor craft and yourself.

COST:  $15/person

               $10/person youth discount

September dance:   Quickstep
