Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – September 9th 20019
Dear All,
Winter do be a’coomin, and I tank it blow purty soon purty hard! What better time to start bringing your indoor activities up to speed. Not all at once . . . maybe just a class here, a class there to start (we wouldn’t want your bodies to go into shock from lack of exposure to the great outdoors). Then, keep adding until you reach your own individual capacities.
Before you know it, you will be able to handle indoor environments for hours at a time with only minimal withdrawal symptoms from the lack of exposure. So why not make it a dance class? Why not make it three? Four? Okay, five, but that’s as high as we go in a week (and you would have to attend Fort Jones’ classes to make it five).
Don’t go hog wild right off the bat (unless Riding the Wild Hog is your Life Philosophy – then go for it!): try Swing (Tuesday Nights) first. You will have so much fun, you won’t even realize your inside.
And that applies to Samba (Wednesday Nights), Waltz (Thursday Nights) and Swing again (Friday Nights) as well. With such an excellent cross-representation of dance that is going on right now (September), there should be something for everybody (or anybody).
So be Somebody and come dance with us.
See you there.

Saturday Morning Technique Class
Mt. Shasta Park
Dance Hall
1315 Nixon Rd.
Mt. Shasta, CA
Saturday Mornings: September 6, 13, 20, 27
Dance: QUICKSTEP
9:45 – 11:00 am: Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities. Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Hip Action (Rotation, Sinking, Isolation, etc.) Foot action (motility, bounce, control, etc.), Arm Action & Rib-cage action (Isolation, Side Extension, etc.). Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression. Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.
And that is just too much fun to miss out on! So, what say you give it a try? Eh?
11:00 – 11:45 am: Amalgamations. Putting those drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual Figures of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floor craft and yourself.
COST: $15/person
$10/person youth discount
October dance: Quickstep II
