Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – September 16th 2019
Dear All,
We couldn’t be more excited about starting up our new venue at the Weed Community Center. The chance to meet new people, introduce a larger community to the joys and benefits of ballroom dance (aka Couple Dancing).
This will start out as a beginning series so now would be a good time to let all of those friends of yours who have been amazed and delighted by your dancing skills know that they, too, can learn to dance just like you!
Or you yourselves can deepen your own skills and understanding by going through the basics again (so you can still be better than your friends whenever you all go out dancing).
And don’t forget, our monthly dance parties up at Lake Shastina are scheduled to start up again the last Friday of October! In the Weed Community Center classes we will be teaching a few steps of each dance each week (a dance a week) so those who join us will be able to dance a lot at the October dance party. So join us!
And all of our other classes will still be going strong this week: Swing on Tuesdays, Samba on Wednesdays, Waltz on Thursdays and Quickstep on Saturdays. Remember. Every day we train we grow a little stronger (and the rest of the world grows a little weaker!). So join us for those, too!
See you there.

THIS WEEK’S SCHEDULE
___________________________________________________________________________________
Weed Community Center
161 East Lincoln Avenue, Weed, CA The Grand Room
Days: Tuesday & Thursdays
Time: 5:00 – 6:00 pm
This week’s Dance: Foxtrot
Plan: We will be starting with the least complex of all the dances and, week by week, work our way up through to the more complex.
We will begin each dance on Tuesday and then review and expand on Thursday, so if you can only come one day a week, you will still learn enough steps to go out on the dance floor with confidence and if you come to both classes, you will shine!

Saturday Morning Technique Class
Mt. Shasta Park
Dance Hall
1315 Nixon Rd.
Mt. Shasta, CA
Saturday Mornings: September 7, 14, 21, 28
Dance: QUICKSTEP
9:45 – 11:00 am: Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities. Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Hip Action (Rotation, Sinking, Isolation, etc.) Foot action (motility, bounce, control, etc.), Arm Action & Rib-cage action (Isolation, Side Extension, etc.). Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression. Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.
And that is just too much fun to miss out on! So, what say you give it a try? Eh?
11:00 – 11:45 am: Amalgamations. Putting those drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual Figures of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floor craft and yourself.
COST: $15/person
$10/person youth discount
October dance: Quickstep again!!!!
