Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – September 23rd 2019
Dear All,
For those of us who keep seasonal calendars, today is Autumn the First. Already the air is getting brisker and to compensate, we are dancing faster! The beginning class on Tuesday nights is Swing, a real pulse-pounder of a dance, good for aerobic strength, endurance and, yes, fun . . . not to mention warming up! (We thought we would mention it anyway.)
Then on Wednesday nights it’s Samba! Another real pulse-pounder of a dance that is not only good for aerobic strength and endurance, but, done properly, (will give you the calves of a highlander (if you don’t want the calves of a highlander, just do it improperly)! Another dance for lighting the inner fires!
And this Thursday is the last night of the Waltz, which means that next week (month), we will be dropping the Waltz and adding . . . (wait for it) . . . Salsa! Another pulse-pounder of a dance calculated to, yes, keep you warm and have fun doing it.
So keep those heating bills down this October by joining us for not one, not two but three pulse-pounding dances a week guaranteed to warm you thoroughly from the inside out. And who knows, maybe drop a pound or two while (and here’s the REAL payoff) simultaneously learning how to dance (or dance better)!
You’ll be so busy having fun and keeping warm and learning how to dance that you won’t even care that the Weed Dance Classes are being postponed until January 2020! Come join us in warmth and joy!
See you there.

Saturday Morning Technique Class
Mt. Shasta Park
Dance Hall
1315 Nixon Rd.
Mt. Shasta, CA
Saturday Mornings: September 7, 14, 21, 28
Dance: QUICKSTEP
9:45 – 11:00 am: Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities. Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Hip Action (Rotation, Sinking, Isolation, etc.) Foot action (motility, bounce, control, etc.), Arm Action & Rib-cage action (Isolation, Side Extension, etc.). Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression. Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.
And that is just too much fun to miss out on! So, what say you give it a try? Eh?
11:00 – 11:45 am: Amalgamations. Putting those drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual Figures of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floor craft and yourself.
COST: $15/person
$10/person youth discount
October dance: Quickstep . . . again!!!! (yay!)
