Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – October 21st 2019
Dear All,
Two announcements today.
First, because the park is completely booked for a function this weekend, there will be no Saturday morning Technique Class this week. Be sure to re-join us next week for Waltz and we promise to make the class technique-ier to make up for the loss.
And, second, as previously announced, this is the week that our dance party at Lake Shastina is finally happening! The music will just keep on playing, the feet will just keep on dancing and the fun will just keep on building! (and the exclamation points will just keep on coming!!!)
Where: Lake Shastina Club House (15244 Driftwood Lane, Lake Shastina)
When: Friday, October 25th, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm
What: Open Ballroom Dancing (help available upon request)
Who: Victoria, your hostess; Rick & Peggy, your teachers; and YOU!
How Much: Suggested donation of $10 for the DJ (aforementioned Rick & Peggy)
Why: To have fun and to expand your having-fun skills! And to Dance!
(See what I mean about those exclamation marks?!) Victoria has graciously agreed to fill in as hostess until Donna returns to the area, so that we can continue to have dance parties once a month. We would like to extend our appreciation and thanks! And feel free to bring any snacks that you might want to share.
And don’t forget to come to classes this week to put that last-minute polish on your dancing skills (not to worry, folks: ones “having-fun” skills will always supersede dancing skills in the public eye, so as long you are having fun, you will look great!!!! {even more exclamation point!!!}) This will be a great place to practice dncing, too!
See you there (hopefully at all of the “theres”s!).

Saturday Morning Technique Class
Mt. Shasta Park
Dance Hall
1315 Nixon Rd.
Mt. Shasta, CA
Saturday Mornings: October 5, 12, 19 no 26th!
Dance: QUICKSTEP
9:30 – 10:45 am: Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities. Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Hip Action (Rotation, Sinking, Isolation, etc.) Foot action (motility, bounce, control, etc.), Arm Action & Rib-cage action (Isolation, Side Extension, etc.). Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression. Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.
And that is just too much fun to miss out on! So, what say you give it a try? Eh?
11:00 – 11:30am: Amalgamations. Putting those drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual Figures of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floor craft and yourself.
COST: $15/person
$10/person youth discount
November dance: WALTZ
