Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – December 2nd 2019

Dear All,

For your convenience we have brought the Holiday Gift Certificates section up from the dungeons (the very bottom of the newsletter) and have put it at the end of this section (and before the class information sections) so that you can access it more easily.

And don’t forget, the November Dance Party at Lake Shastina is happening THIS Friday (December 6th) so that those of you who had family obligations for Thanksgiving would not have to miss it.  Same times (6:30 pm to 8:30 pm); same place (Lake Shastina Club House (15244 Driftwood Lane, Lake Shastina); same or greater amounts of fun!  Come join us.  (And also don’t forget that the more gift certificates you get for someone the sooner you will have someone new to dance with at the party!  Or get some for yourself, thereby giving yourself the gift of having even more fun at the Dance Party!)

The new dance for Tuesday nights this month will be Foxtrot, one of the easiest, most basic of the ballroom dances and a good place for you to drag those friends you think would enjoy (and definitely benefit from) dancing.  And a good place to start honing your own skills to greater levels of proficiency!

The Two Step will move to Wednesday and you will learn more new steps.  If those of you who attend want to learn the Country Two Step as well, show up and tell us and we will inject some of those steps into the class as well.

In a break from tradition, this month on Thursdays we will be introducing the Quickstep instead of moving the Wednesday night class on up.  The Quickstep is a more advanced dance, hence not entirely suitable for the Tuesday beginning class, so we are going to introduce it to the more advanced class on Thursday instead.

Make no mistake, this will be a beginning class, and even our beginning students will be able to join.  Just expect it to be a teensy bit more complex (but a lot of fun) than what you are used to in a beginning class.  We heartily encourage all to join us for this holiday-like dance.

So, come join us for a party, two new dances and a new dancing experience.

Be seeing you in class.

Saturday Morning Technique Class

Mt. Shasta Park

Dance Lodge

 1315 Nixon Rd.

Mt. Shasta, CA

Saturday Mornings:   December 7, 14, 20, 28

Dance:   WALTZ

9:30 – 10:45 am:     Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities.  Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Hip Action (Rotation, Sinking, Isolation,  etc.) Foot action (motility, bounce, control, etc.), Arm Action & Rib-cage action (Isolation, Side Extension, etc.).   Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression.   Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.

And that is just too much fun to miss out on!   So, what say you give it a try?  Eh?

11:00 – 11:30am:      Amalgamations.   Putting those drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual Figures of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floor craft and yourself.

COST:  $15/person

               $10/person youth discount

December dance:   WALTZ   (possibly w/Viennese Waltz added)
