Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – January 6th 2020
Dear All,
What?! It’s the 6th of January in the new year and you haven’t danced yet in 2020? Well, we’ll just have to remedy that immediately! Starting tomorrow are beginning the simplest, easiest-to-learn dance of all time: the American Style Foxtrot. Come on day one (Tuesday night) and get in at the beginning. You won’t be sorry (unless you don’t come)!
Hold on a second, Rick; wait a minute, Peggy! Didn’t we see Foxtrot start on Tuesday nights in December 2019? How can we be “getting in at the beginning”? Simple: we will be starting with the most basic, the most beginning, the easiest steps of the Short Rhythm. (Last month we taught the most basic, beginning and easiest steps of the Long Rhythm.) So come join us and get in at the beginning!
Wednesdays will still be Two Step, and we will be picking it up where we left off last month with perhaps more emphasis on the Country Two step this month. This will probably be the last month of Two Step so git while the gittin’s good!
And Thursday, Quickstep will also continue another month as well. Everyone’s starting to get it really good so we are forging ahead . It’s not too late to join us and catch up.
And Fridays in Fort Jones is still at the beginning, rudimentary levels of Cha-cha, so dust off those dancing shoes, oil those feet and jump in with the rest of the class. It’s not even remotely too late for beginners!
The Saturday class is continuing with the Waltz because everyone is progressing so nicely, but since everyone works at their own level in that class, beginners are always welcome. This would not be a bad class for starting your dancing careers!
Since 2020 is the year of seeing clearly, why don’t you see your way clear to take up dancing for the life time of benefits that dancing provides, not the least of which will be: the ability to dance!
Be seeing you in classes.

Saturday Morning Technique Class
Mt. Shasta Park
Dance Lodge
1315 Nixon Rd.
Mt. Shasta, CA
Saturday Mornings: January 4, 11, 18, 25
Dance: WALTZ
9:30 – 10:45 am: Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities. Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Hip Action (Rotation, Sinking, Isolation, etc.) Foot action (motility, bounce, control, etc.), Arm Action & Rib-cage action (Isolation, Side Extension, etc.). Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression. Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.
And that is just too much fun to miss out on! So, what say you give it a try? Eh?
11:00 – 11:30am: Amalgamations. Putting those drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual Figures of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floor craft and yourself.
COST: $15/person
$10/person youth discount
January dance: WALTZ (possibly w/Viennese Waltz added)
