Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – January 13th 2020

Dear All,

January is off to a hot start, which, considering the weather, is quite an accomplishment.  We have all of you to thank for that and thank you we do.  For those of you who missed out on some of the heat last week, it’s not too late to join us this week.  We know of no better way to get the blood to the tippy-tips of your twinkling tootsies to warm them up other than dancing on them (your own, preferably!).

Besides (we are pleased to announce), the January Dance Party at Lake Shastina is definitely on for the 31st, and you are going to want to be able to dance for that!  Otherwise, all you will be able to do in Lake Shastina that night is wander morosely down to the lakes edge, dejectedly tossing the occasional pebble into the water with a lonely splash, listening forlornly to the haunting cry of the loon as it floats through the dismal mist, perhaps wiping a lone tear from your eye as melancholy drags you deeper and deeper into the pit of depression -all the while hearing the sounds of laughter and music and people having fun dancing as they interject into your misery only as an ironic counterpoint to your own deep despair.

You don’t want that!  How tragic, when all one has to do to avoid that fate is simply  learn how to dance . . . and then dance!  Come to classes to broaden your vocabulary of figures and develop your skills. Then, come to the dance party on the 31st (from 6:30 to 8:30 pm) for a kicking up of heels unseen anywhere else in Siskiyou County!  You won’t regret it!

And don’t forget, Valentine’s day is approaching.  You will want to be ready for that chance to dance come mid-February.  All of our classes are happening as usual so come join us!

Be seeing you in classes.

Saturday Morning Technique Class

Mt. Shasta Park

Dance Lodge

 1315 Nixon Rd.

Mt. Shasta, CA

Saturday Mornings:   January 4, 11, 18, 25

Dance:   WALTZ

9:30 – 10:45 am:     Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities.  Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Hip Action (Rotation, Sinking, Isolation,  etc.) Foot action (motility, bounce, control, etc.), Arm Action & Rib-cage action (Isolation, Side Extension, etc.).   Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression.   Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.

And that is just too much fun to miss out on!   So, what say you give it a try?  Eh?

11:00 – 11:30am:      Amalgamations.   Putting those drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual Figures of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floor craft and yourself.

COST:  $15/person

               $10/person youth discount

February Dance:   QUICKSTEP
