Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – January 27th 2020

Dear All,

Alright, everyone: it’s dance party week.

We would like to reassure those of you who are new and just beginning, that one of the main points of the dance party is to provide a chance to practice ones newly acquired skills in a social/open dance setting.  It is not a place where advanced dancers go to show off.  Everyone is there to practice and grow stronger.  Just like you.  Accent on fun and development.  Come see what all the other dances look like.  You will be learning each of them throughout the year!

The particulars:

Date:     January 31st, 2020

Time:    6:30 – 8:30 pm

Place:   The Lake Shastina Club House, 15244 Driftwood Lane, Lake Shastina

How much: $10 donation for DJs (Dance Jockeys, Rick & Peggy) suggested

Who:    You (and us!)

What:   Dances (Foxtrot, Night Club Two Step, Country Two Step, Quickstep, Cha-cha, Waltz, Tango, Bolero, Samba, Rumba, Merengue, Swing, Salsa, etc.

Dress:     Dressy casual, Casual dressy, Classy comfortable, Comfortable classy and anything in between

Refreshments:  Provided (but you are always welcome to share a favorite of your own)

But even if you can’t come (or aren’t coming) still come to class and learn, develop and grow your skills.  Trust us: the world feels different to feet that can dance.  It feels better; it feels stronger.  Try on a pair and see for yourselves.

Be seeing you in classes.

Saturday Morning Technique Class

Mt. Shasta Park

Dance Lodge

 1315 Nixon Rd.

Mt. Shasta, CA

Saturday Mornings:   February 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

Dance:   QUICKSTEP

9:30 – 10:45 am:     Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities.  Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Hip Action (Rotation, Sinking, Isolation,  etc.) Foot action (motility, bounce, control, etc.), Arm Action & Rib-cage action (Isolation, Side Extension, etc.).   Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression.   Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.

And that is just too much fun to miss out on!   So, what say you give it a try?  Eh?

11:00 – 11:30am:      Amalgamations.   Putting those drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual Figures of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floor craft and yourself.

COST:  $15/person

               $10/person youth discount

February Dance:   QUICKSTEP
