Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – February 3rd 2020

Dear All,

Once again, our profuse thanks to Victoria who hosted the Lake Shastina Dance Party and Debbie who assisted so effectively.  It was another brilliant night of dancing (not to mention a night of brilliant dancing) and a good time was had by all.  The next one will be held February 21st (a week earlier than usual) so keep coming to classes so you will be ready to join in on the fun!

And we are meeting in Fort Jones this week for more cha-cha.   Come learn how to make your cha-cha cha cha.   We’re still at a beginning enough level that beginners can join us.

As this is the first week of February, the class rotations have kicked in, and the Foxtrot is moving to Wednesday, picking up where it left off in the Tuesday class.  Replacing it on Tuesdays will be a mixed class, Rumba & Merengue, the two easiest of all the Latin dances.  These are the dances that will make all the other Latin dances so much easier to learn.  Join us and get a foot in the door.  Don’t forget:  A foot in the door is a foot on the floor.

Because the Quickstep has only had two months so far (and the Two step class has already had its three), we are keeping the Quickstep for one more month on Thursdays to give everyone a chance to finish it off with enough steps to navigate a dance floor.

The Saturday Technique class will also be taking up Quickstep.  This would be your chance to learn the basics (if you’re a beginner) and learn a basic routine that will get you successfully around the floor as well as all the lead/follow and other technical skills that will make you smooth, proficient and elegant dancers.  That’s what that class is for.  Join us.

Be seeing you in classes.

Saturday Morning Technique Class

Mt. Shasta Park

Dance Lodge

 1315 Nixon Rd.

Mt. Shasta, CA

Saturday Mornings:   February 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

Dance:   QUICKSTEP

9:30 – 10:45 am:     Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities.  Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Hip Action (Rotation, Sinking, Isolation,  etc.) Foot action (motility, bounce, control, etc.), Arm Action & Rib-cage action (Isolation, Side Extension, etc.).   Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression.   Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.

And that is just too much fun to miss out on!   So, what say you give it a try?  Eh?

11:00 – 11:30am:      Amalgamations.   Putting those drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual Figures of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floor craft and yourself.

COST:  $15/person

               $10/person youth discount

February Dance:   QUICKSTEP
