Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – February 24th 2020

Dear All,

Yet again, thanks are in order to our Lake Shastina Hostess (& her able assister) Victoria (& Debbie) for another fun night of dancing.  Also, our thanks to everyone who contributed with refreshments.  It was a fun night for feet & mouths alike (not to suggest that mouths and feet are in any way alike).

And a big thank you to all who came and danced.  We enjoyed your company and are pleased to see so many of you having fun dancing (instead of “working at it” like we do in class -kudos on passing that milestone!).  Next month we will be back on schedule, holding the Lake Shastina Dance Party on the last Friday of the month (3/27) as we have been traditionally holding it.  See you then.

This is the last week of February, and we look forward to seeing you all in class to put that final polish on the figures (steps) you have been learning this month.  The Tuesday night dance (Merengue/Rumba) and the Wednesday night dance (Foxtrot) will continue in March, moving up a day (Tuesday night to Wednesday night, Wednesday night to Thursday night) and picking up where they left off in February.  Quickstep will be dropping off the list (unless you come to the Saturday Morning Technique Class, where Quickstep will still be going strong – if not stronger).

And we will be picking up Tango on Tuesdays in March!  This is one of the most fun dances, with plenty of opportunity to exercise and develop your “high drama” skills as well as your dance skills.  If you haven’t had Tango, join us for a unique experience in dancing starting March 3rd.

Come join us for all the classes.

Be seeing you there .

Saturday Morning Technique Class

Mt. Shasta Park

Dance Lodge

 1315 Nixon Rd.

Mt. Shasta, CA

Saturday Mornings:   February 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

Dance:   QUICKSTEP

9:45– 10:45 am:     Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities.  Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Hip Action (Rotation, Sinking, Isolation,  etc.) Foot action (motility, bounce, control, etc.), Arm Action & Rib-cage action (Isolation, Side Extension, etc.).   Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression.   Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.

And that is just too much fun to miss out on!   So, what say you give it a try?  Eh?

11:00 – 11:45am:      Amalgamations.   Putting those drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual Figures of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floor craft and yourself.

COST:  $15/person

               $10/person youth discount

March Dance:   QUICKSTEP (continuing -or starting if you are just joining us)
