Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – March 28th 2022
Dear All,
Dance Party this Friday! You know how it works: we play a variety of (ballroom) dance music, take requests, now and again, and teach some basic steps of a dance or two (this week, basic Nightclub Two Step). And we will be on hand to answer any questions that may come up, help you out with any steps that are giving you problems and, of course to dance with you.
WHAT: Ballroom Dance Practice Party (practicing your new-found skills in a social setting {one that is safe, protective and nurturing}). Suggested donation: $10/person, or what you can.
WHEN: Friday, April 1st, 2022; 7:30 – 9:30 pm
WHERE: The Lake Shastina Clubhouse (15244 Driftwood Lane, right on the lake itself {actual directions at end of newsletter}). Be wary: most online GPS systems like to turn you the wrong way at Driftwood Lane. Make sure you turn towards the lake!
WHO: Yallenus (code for “y’all and us”).
WHY: To have a rollicking good time practicing and developing what you have learned in classes, to come to realize just how much fun couple dancing can be and, finally, to catch a glimpse of the heights to which proficiency can catapult you (we were going to say “can hurl you” but we decided that it would be impolitic to use the words “dance” and “hurl” in the same sentence).
WHUNCH: To rhyme with lunch in the attempt describe the state of snacks and refreshments available. Yes, there will refreshments provided but please feel free to contribute by bringing your own favorites to share.
Come for the last Tango class and the last Bolero class this Wednesday and Thursday nights respectively to make sure you have even more to do at the party for even more fun. We will pass out directions in class to any who want them. For those of you who may not be able to make it to classes, we are including directions right after the “Cheers” part of this newsletter.
So,
Cheers,
Rick and Peggy Nixon

p.s. Mask protocols are being relaxed in accordance with various studios around the state (and our own sick-to-deathedness of breathing filtered air). We will encourage the un-vaccinated to do what they feel is best for yourselves and will be happy to wear our masks when dealing specifically with you should you so desire. Otherwise, we are all on our own, now, as so-called adults should be. Make your decisions accordingly, but make them based on real information.
