Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – July 4th, 2022
Dear All,
Peggy thanks you all for the flowers (all of the flowers, as she is also grateful for the flowers she received last week as well), cards (ditto) and the chocolate (which Rick still hasn’t eaten . . . is that love or what?).
She is getting stronger by the day, and I think we can look forward to her presence in class by mid-month or so (though perhaps not her active immediate participation {other than to draw me aside to tell me that so and so needs a talking to because he/she is doing such and such [so mind your such and suches when she does return!]}). (And, yes, another triple parenthetical clause! It is getting to be almost too easy. Keep your eye out for the quadruple parenthetical clause appearing here one day soon {as soon as I unearth a new set of parenthetical brackets [or a new system involving the currently available parenthetical brackets!]}). See? Almost too easy!
This month (July), we are going to try something a little different. We have decided to move the Latin class back to Wednesday, at least for this month and move the smooth dance to Thursdays and see how this flies with everyone. Don’t be afraid to let us know how it works out.
Also, the members of the Latin class have elected to continue with the Cha-cha for one more month, so on Wednesday’s we will pick up where we left off in June. So I guess we are doing two things a little different.
Those of you who missed doing the Cha-cha in June can still join us in July, as we are going to spend the first week reviewing the steps we learned in June and you will be able to easily catch up. And then everyone can have fun learning some more advanced figures.
Brand new dance (the Waltz) on Thursdays this month, starting with the basic steps and working our way up as far as class levels permit. Perhaps some new, different basic steps to broaden your vocabularies. But, in any event, fun, fun, fun no matter how you cut it (as in “cutting a rug”, an old timey phrase for dancing).
Don’t forget, folks, dancing is, after all, supposed to be fun! The only question is, are your fun quotients up to the task of processing this much fun?
Join us in classes this month and find out.
Cheers,
Rick and Peggy Nixon

p.s. We have relaxed Mask Protocols.. We will encourage the un-vaccinated to do what you feel is best for yourselves and will happily don our own masks when dealing with you specifically should you so desire. Otherwise, we are all on our own, now, as so-called adults should be. Make your decisions accordingly but make them based on real information. Don’t be afraid to wear them, but don’t feel that you must.
p.p.s. What do you call it when The Lone Ranger takes you out for dinner and a movie? A “masked man date”!
