Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – August 29th 2022
Dear All,
The team is back together again! Rick’s back! Peggy’s back! We’re all back!
And, to celebrate, the Salsa and Foxtrot are coming back, too! Since events conspired against us all to only have one class of each dance (in that first week of August, lo these many days ago) we have decided to give you a full shot at each dance again (good news for Salsa lovers and Foxtrot afficionados, bad news for Salsa haters and Foxtrot disparagers -fortunately, two very small groups in today’s mixed society!).
We will start afresh, reviewing what we did (as they were basic steps) and then move on to funner and funner variations (because funner is funner than “more fun”!) until – you guessed it: actual fun is achieved (fun being the healthy by-product of learning and developing new skills that will serve you well one day in an indeterminate future).
Wow. It looks like getting blood back to my brain has re-awakened my what had been becoming a fastly diminishing command of language (and now you’re all sorry!) Let’s hope it doesn’t extend to my sense of humor (or as the British call it “sense of humour”) as well or all is lost.
Quick, come to class before that happens and learn, learn, learn how to dance, dance, dance! Salsa on Wednesday nights, Foxtrot on Thursday nights. Come see the team together again for the first time in two months! We look forward to seeing you there and watching you progress, as we know you are all going to do under our expert tutelage and your own innate and constantly emerging dance skills.
Cheers,
Rick and (yay) Peggy Nixon

p.s. We have relaxed Mask Protocols.. We will encourage the un-vaccinated to do what you feel is best for yourselves and will happily don our own masks when dealing with you specifically should you so desire. Otherwise, we are all on our own, now, as so-called adults should be. Make your decisions accordingly but make them based on real information. Don’t be afraid to wear them, but don’t feel that you must.
p.p.s. What do you call it when The Lone Ranger takes you out for dinner and a movie? A “masked man date”!
