Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – October 25th 2022

Dear All,

As this is the last week in October, we would, under normal circumstances, be bidding a fond farewell to the Bolero and Waltz (American style).  But November, home of the Thanksgiving Day holiday, will reduce the usual four weeks of classes to three weeks (thanks to that same Thanksgiving Day holiday).  That hardly seems fair to any dance we might decide to teach in November.

So we have decided to extend the Waltz and Bolero into November and keep expanding your vocabulary (aka: the number of steps you know and can then use on the wild dance floor).  Any newbies who want to join us won’t have any problems because we will be teaching brand new steps that the Octoberites will not have had, so everyone will be on close to an even footing by virtue of the fact that they will be new to everybody!  So, newbies, you are more than welcome to join us in November.

And oldbies, you will still be picking up additional steps thereby broadening both your vocabularies (or your arsenals, depending on how you look at it).  So, once again, win-win for everyone.  The more Waltz and Bolero steps you know, the more you will enjoy yourselves on the dance floor.

So come join us for a continuation of the steps you learned this last month and/or the advent of the new steps you will be learning next month.  You won’t be sorry (unless you want to be, in which case a word to us and we will be happy to go out of our way to see that you are because “we live only to serve”).

Be see you in class.  Bells optional.

Cheers,

Rick and Peggy Nixon

p.s.  We have relaxed Mask Protocols..  We will encourage the un-vaccinated to do what you feel is best for yourselves and will happily don our own masks when dealing with you specifically should you so desire.  Otherwise, we are all on our own, now, as so-called adults should be.  Make your decisions accordingly but make them based on real information.  Don’t be afraid to wear them, but don’t feel that you must.

p.p.s.    What do you call it when The Lone Ranger takes you out for dinner and a movie?  A “masked man date”!
