Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – December 26th 2022

Dear All,

Here’s hoping all your Christmases were bright, all your Hannukkahs were happy, all your Kwanzaas were kwayzee and all of your whichever holidays you celebrate were celebratory!

If you think you can manage to squeeze one more drop of joy out of 2022 (and if there is one thing that needs to be squeezed out of 2022, it’s joy!), come to dance class and pick up a few more steps of the Samba and Viennese Waltz (two of the more joyful dances in the pantheon  of joy-filled dances).

We’ll be there, the music will be there, the steps will be there.  The only thing missing from that equation is . . . you!  When you show up, the joy will be complete!  So, if you need to fill your quota of joy to the world for 2022, come to dance class for one last shot at it (not counting any New Year’s Eve celebrations for which you are intending to be the life of the party {which, to be frank, sounds like a lot more work than coming to dance class!}).

We’ll impart as much as we can to you, you will be imparting it to us and your fellow dancers, the dance and the music will be imparting it to one and all.

My favorite quote from George Bernard Shaw is this:

“We have no more right to consume happiness without producing it than we have to consume wealth without producing it.”

Perhaps a good framework from which to build this coming year’s New Year’s resolutions, eh?  We leave it up to you.

Come to class and help us provide as much joy for 2022 (before it bows out) as possible.

Oh, and if you want to get a head start on fulfilling your joy quota for 2023, we will be offering our Dance Gift Certificates this week in classes plus next Saturday (12/31/2022 from 9:00a to 5:00p at the Wellness Center {633 Lassen Lane, Mt. Shasta}) so you can give the gift of dance to others (or even yourself – I mean, after all,  joy is joy no matter which direction it is moving!).  Drop by and procure one or more and spread the joy!

Thanks, and we’ll be seeing you in class this week!

Holiday Cheers,

Rick and Peggy Nixon

p.s.  We have relaxed Mask Protocols..  We will encourage the un-vaccinated to do what you feel is best for yourselves and will happily don our own masks when dealing with you specifically should you so desire.  Otherwise, we are all on our own, now, as so-called adults should be.  Make your decisions accordingly but make them based on real information.  Don’t be afraid to wear them, but don’t feel that you must.

p.p.s.    What do you call it when The Lone Ranger takes you out for dinner and a movie?  A “masked man date”!
