Ballroom Newsetter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – March 14th 2023

Dear All,

Rain, Rain, come today,

Come today and stay and stay,

Wash the ten-foot berms away,

And keep me off the roof (“Hooray!”).

Okay, I get it . . . Shakespeare I ain’t.   In fact, Robert Frost I ain’t.  I’m probably not even weird Al Yankovic!  But I think we can all get behind the above sentiment as we watch the 10-foot drifts of snow being reduced to 4-foot drifts of snow almost over-night (and then being reduced to 2-foot drifts of snow, soon to be no-foot {footless?} drifts of snow thereby rendering us driftless).

Besides, you don’t come to us for our skills as poets (and a good thing, too!).  You come to us for our skills as dancers and dance instructors and we will be trotting those out (so to speak) Wednesday and Thursday this week for your dancing edification.

I know, I know: dancing IS edification.  But we feel that the more one can pile positive terminology on top of positive terminology, the stronger positivity itself grows.  You can pile even more positiveness onto the construct by bringing your own positivity to our classes this week and learning even more steps and better ways to do the old ones! Positive-positive (win-win).

With the news media, internet algorithms and blog trolls (and more!) all highly focusing on the negative, the whole negative and nothing but the negative, it behooves all of us to strike repeated blows for positivity just to keep the scales balanced (let alone develop a positive bias!).  In dance class, every step you learn represents just such a blow.  By the end of class your daily (or even weekly) quota of blows for positivity should be met (and if it’s not, just come back to the next class and  . . . voila!).

Do it; if not for your own edification, then for the edification of the world.  As long as it keeps raining (and only raining) we will be there!

Come join us and allow us to join you.  All will be served!

Cheers,

Rick and Peggy Nixon
