Ballroom Newsletter,Siskiyou County & Northern California – May 30th 2023

Dear All,

Changes!

But foist: Thank you all for a fabulous Practice Dance Party last Friday.  A good time was had by all and there was lots of dancing and lots of practicing going on.  The Dance Mistress provided some wonderful snacks.  Everyone got several good dances in.  Socializing was off the charts (at least as far as a couple of introverts like us could tell).  And your instructors taught the basics of a new dance!  Fun for all!

We look forward to seeing more of you at the June Practice Dance Party on 6/23.   (Important note: “seeing more of you” is not a plea for everyone to wear fewer clothes, but a sincere wish for more of you to attend and partake in the fun.  We just wanted to make that clear.)

As always, at Junes Practice Party, we will be playing a greater number of songs for the dances that we will have taught this month, so even the new people can attend June 23rd Practice Party and have fun (both dancing the dances they have just learned and observing the other dances that they will be going to learn in future months)!

And now, on to the changes!  First, we have decided that the 1st of June (scheduled to be the first night of the new month’s dance) will instead be used to give you one more shot at the Waltz.  Things will just work out better that way for the Waltzers and for next month’s dance class as well.  Unchanged is the last Bolero class being taught this Wednesday (5/31).

So: Waltz this Thursday (June the 1st) and the first class of Salsa will commence on the 8th.

Another (and bigger) change: Some of our students have brought it to our attention (attentions?) that because circumstances only allow them to come on a certain night of the week, they have only been able to learn Latin dances (on Wednesday nights) or Smooth dances (on Thursday nights) and are not being able to keep up with the whole range of dances.

So, for June, we are going to swap out Latin night and Smooth night and teach Quickstep (Smooth) on Wednesday and Salsa (Latin) on Thursday to see how that works for everyone.  As an integral part of everyone, it will be your responsibility to let us know how it works out for you.  If it works well, we may keep alternating.  So tell us.

We look forward to seeing you all in classes this week for Bolero and Waltz (if you’re not too exhausted from reading over-lengthy newsletters).

Cheers,

Rick and Peggy Nixon
