Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – August 14th 2017
Dear All,
Boy do I feel refreshed after all those hours in an air-conditioned environment which last week’s classes so generously allowed me.
And I feel safe, too! It is not mentioned enough in the annals of Ballroom Dance how calming dancing in a Tsunami-free zone can be. Just knowing that there is no chance of being swept away by a tsunami is reassuring to even the most timid of souls. Why, I feel the chords on the back of my neck relaxing just thinking about it!
But of course, ultimately, the dancing is what you come for and dancing is what you get. That plus the deep satisfaction which mastering the subtler forms of movement in general can provide, a mastery almost guaranteed when one learns how to dance.
Let’s face it: we learn how to walk (as infants) by simply not falling on our faces anymore. And unless one is exposed early on to dance or gymnastics or martial arts or even some sports, that is all the training we get and we end up walking our entire lives the same way we learned how to walk as infants.
Come to class and develop the finer aspects of movement control that will not only make your dancing more enjoyable and more elegant and more dynamic, but also develop, strengthen and improve those movements that we use in all of the other aspects of our everyday lives.
See you there.
