Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – March 18th 2019
Dear All,
Attention COS Kiddiewinkies: We had promised to give you two make-up classes (this week & next week) to cover the snow closures, but we have been informed by maintenance that next week is Spring Break (3/25 – 3/29) and the campus will be completely closed with all maintenance staff on day-only schedules. There will be no one there to let us in, so we can’t hold that second make-up session as planned. We are so very sorry.
The good news is that we will still be holding a make-up class this week (Tuesday, 3/19) at the usual time (6:45 pm) so we will still review all the dances we learned this session, but we will be doing them all in one two-hour session.
We look forward to seeing you all again one more time. Or . . . how about this . . . sign up for the next session and we will get to see all of you seven more times – once this week and then again in two weeks (on April 2nd) for another six weeks (and there should be next to no chance of snow closures this time)! Wouldn’t that be lovely! So be a love and sign up for the next series.
We will be learning four new dances: Waltz, Samba, Salsa & Swing. And we will always be happy to answer any questions about the four dances you have just learned, so you win (learning even more dances), we win (getting to see you all again and moving you forward in your dancing ambitions) and the school wins (strengthening their reputations as purveyors of fine education).
You may go on-line to sign up or go into COS offices and sign up. Or, as always, we will have forms on the first day of class (April 2nd) so that you can sign up at that time. Be sure and bring your payment then (check or cash) and we will be able to get you signed up immediately. For those of you intending to sign up on line, the registration info immediately follows below this section of the newsletter.
Not to leave out the non-COS dancers: good news! Enough of you have responded to our request for commitment to the Saturday class that it is back on! So come learn the basic moves that makes the Waltz the magical, fun-filled dance we would so dearly love to have you all experience.
And for the Wellness crowd, the Wednesday & Thursday classes are still going strong. Not too fast but very thorough! So whoever may have missed a few classes, you are not too far behind and our usual review at the beginning of each class will catch you up. So join us!
Be seeing you all in class.

Saturday Morning Technique Class
Mt. Shasta City Park
Dance Lodge
1315 Nixon Rd, Mt. Shasta Ca
Saturday Mornings: March 23, 30
9:45 – 11:45 am
Dance: Waltz
9:45 – 10:45 am: Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities. Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Lowering, Rotation, Swing, Cant and Sway. Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression. Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.
And that is just too much fun to miss out on! So, what say you give it a try? Eh?
10:45 – 11:45 am: Amalgamations. Putting those drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual Figures of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floor craft and yourself.
COST: $15/person
$10/person youth discount
April dance: Waltz
