Ballroom Newsletter, Sisiyou County & Northern California – May 6th 2019
Dear All,
May . . . less assertive than ‘will’, which, in itself, is less assertive than ‘shall’. But we don’t need to take our cues from the name of the current month, do we? We can take our destinies into our own hands, our lives under our own control, the bull by the horns (which is pretty much the only way to do it in order to avoid a last-minute goring).
May may not be that assertive, but we can be! What’s that, sir? I “may” dance this month? No, sir, I will dance this month. Nay, sir, I go further: I shall dance this month!
Don’t let an imaginary conversation with an imaginary “sir” show you up. If an imaginary person can commit to dance, just imagine how much more effective a real person such as yourself can be when you do it! So, do it, and show May a thing or two: show May a dancing you. And show the rest of the world a dancing you, too, while you’re at it. You won’t be sorry! (We won’t let you be sorry. We promise to never let you be sorry!)
If you are a beginner, good news: Tango will be starting on Tuesday nights at the Wellness Center on Tuesday the 14th (of . . .yes, May). Join us and start (or continue) your journey with this most dramatic of dances.
And, of course, Rumba will continue to get Rumba-ier and the Foxtrot more Foxtrotty, so join us for those classes as well to ramp up your Rumba and trot out your foxes in style.
Be seeing you all in class.

Saturday Morning Technique Class
Mt. Shasta City Park
Dance Lodge
1315 Nixon Rd, Mt. Shasta Ca
Saturday Mornings: May 4, 11, 18, 25
9:45 – 11:45 am
Dance: Waltz
9:45 – 10:45 am: Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities. Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Lowering, Rotation, Swing, Cant and Sway. Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression. Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.
And that is just too much fun to miss out on! So, what say you give it a try? Eh?
10:45 – 11:45 am: Amalgamations. Putting those drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual Figures of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floor craft and yourself.
COST: $15/person
$10/person youth discount
June dance: TBA
