Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – June 24th 2019
Dear All,
Here it is, the last week of June and the first week of Summer, a simultaneous ending & beginning. The Sun is heading south again, and it is important that we don’t let our dance skills do the same. That means keep coming to classes and dance parties.
What dance parties, you say? Why, the one we are holding this very Friday, June 28th at the Lake Shastina Club House (15244 Driftwood Lane, Lake Shastina overlooking the very shores of Lake Shastina itself)! The event will start at 6:30 pm and run until 8:30 pm with however much of a spill-over needed to get that last ya-ya out. There will be refreshments provided, but the more who bring something to share, the more there will be. There is no charge (but there will be a tip jar for the DJ’s -Rick & Peggy- who will be passing out tips {for dancing} themselves).
Now don’t imagine a roomful of ladies in fancy frocks and men in tails and long coats sailing elegantly and effortlessly around the floor. This will be a dressy casual affair (don’t over-do but don’t come in your bathrobe, either) and there will be more people at the beginning level than the advanced.
We will be teaching short mini-lessons in probably Waltz & any other dance that people (you?) request. This will be more in the nature of a practice party, by which we mean an informal, supportive environment to practice the skills that you have been learning in your classes (and in the mini-lessons) and to give you a chance to find out why you have been learning lead/follow skills.
Should anyone have any questions, want a tip or two or need a quick review, we will be available to help. The last one was very successful and a good time was had by all. Let’s see if we can out-do it this time!
See you there (and/or in classes!)

Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression. Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.
And that is just too much fun to miss out on! So, what say you give it a try? Eh?
