Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – October 7th 2019
Dear All,
Ah, October (or as some say, “Ahh-ctober”), month of multi-colored leaves and brisk, refreshing breezes. Nothing says “go indoors and dance” like autumn weather (winter weather says “stay indoors and dance”). How better to keep up your hiking and biking and mountaineering and just-plain-staying-active skills than dancing?
One develops fine motor control over your muscles with the subtle dances, strength and balance control with the dances that move out (read “fly”) and endurance with the fast, vigorous dances. Then, in Summer, you can continue dancing in order to keep up your skiing skills! The benefits of dancing don’t just stop at being able to dance, you know!
But speaking of being able to dance, the Lake Shastina Dance Party will be happening on Ahh-ctober 25th from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Two full hours of nothing but dance (non-verbal communing with others) and socializing (verbal communing with others) and perhaps a snack or two to keep the dancing legs fueled and the verbal apparatus greased.
Don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to dance many times in your lifetime! And certainly, don’t miss coming to classes this month so that you can get more steps to do at this dance party and any other dance party anywhere in the world that it may be your pleasure to attend!
See you there (classes & party!).

Saturday Morning Technique Class
Mt. Shasta Park
Dance Hall
1315 Nixon Rd.
Mt. Shasta, CA
Saturday Mornings: October 5, 12, 19,26
Dance: QUICKSTEP
9:30 – 10:45 am: Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities. Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Hip Action (Rotation, Sinking, Isolation, etc.) Foot action (motility, bounce, control, etc.), Arm Action & Rib-cage action (Isolation, Side Extension, etc.). Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression. Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.
And that is just too much fun to miss out on! So, what say you give it a try? Eh?
11:00 – 11:30am: Amalgamations. Putting those drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual Figures of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floor craft and yourself.
COST: $15/person
$10/person youth discount
November dance: Waltz
