Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – November 11th 2019
Dear All,
Well it looks like we have all weathered the first week of November. We all of us still have all of our arms and legs and all of our fingers and toes. (Of course, since dancers, notoriously, don’t count above eight, we can only assume that we have all of our fingers and toes and, likewise, we can only assume we don’t have 11 or 12 or more of each.)
Actually, November is a nice, calm month, terminating in a feast and a shopping spree. Nothing dangerous there, but, boy does it get dark early. Too bad there isn’t an indoor activity that takes place in a nice, warm(ish) and well-lit room to get us through the cold, Autumn, soon-to-be-Winter nights!
Hang on: now that I think about it, Ballroom Dance classes do take place in a nice warm(ish) and well-lit room! And the classes will continue not only through Autumn, but throughout the whole of Winter as well (not to mention Spring & Summer & so on)!
Perhaps we could keep our hiking, biking, swimming and other summer activity muscles strong (and even strengthen many of the inner ones) by dance training! And also develop coordination and balance skills that can only enhance our hiking, biking, swimming and other summer activity skills! Win-win again!
Come to classes and start improving your next Summer today! (It’s not too late to join the Tuesday night Beginning Class (Nightclub Two Step). We only just got started last week and it is an easy dance, so it would be easy to catch up!
See you there.
p.s. For those of you who are beginning to start thinking about Holiday Gift Certificates already (you know who you are) our gift certificate pricings can be found at the bottom of this newsletter. It’s never too early (and it’s never too late)!

Saturday Morning Technique Class
Mt. Shasta Park
Dance Lodge
1315 Nixon Rd.
Mt. Shasta, CA
Saturday Mornings: November 2, 9, 16, 27, 30
Dance: WALTZ
9:30 – 10:45 am: Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities. Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Hip Action (Rotation, Sinking, Isolation, etc.) Foot action (motility, bounce, control, etc.), Arm Action & Rib-cage action (Isolation, Side Extension, etc.). Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression. Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.
And that is just too much fun to miss out on! So, what say you give it a try? Eh?
11:00 – 11:30am: Amalgamations. Putting those drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual Figures of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floor craft and yourself.
COST: $15/person
$10/person youth discount
December dance: WALTZ (still, possibly Viennese Waltz)
