Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – December 9th 2019

Dear All,

Once again we would like to thank Victoria and Debbie for another successful dance party at Lake Shastina.  The food was fabulous (yum!), the dancing was fun (duh!) and the holiday-themed dance music helped set the tone for the season.  We will inform you when the next one will happen soon.

In the meantime, keep coming to classes and developing your skills (whilst having fun!).  Trust us, dancing becomes more and more fun the better you get.   How much more fun?  Come find out for yourselves!  As for us, we are still pushing the “fun” envelope.  We’ll let you know when we reach the ultimate level of fun (if one exists).

Come to classes now, because, around Christmas, we will be missing the occasional class due to the holidays themselves.  Don’t short-change yourselves.  And, who knows?  You may end up at a social function where you may get to dance.  Fore warned is fore armed (or in this case, fore footed – not to be confused with four-footed, though any dancing horses or bears will be welcomed to classes, too).

Be seeing you in class.  This week’s schedule below.

Saturday Morning Technique Class

Mt. Shasta Park

Dance Lodge

 1315 Nixon Rd.

Mt. Shasta, CA

Saturday Mornings:   December 7, 14, 20, 28

Dance:   WALTZ

9:30 – 10:45 am:     Technical drills in International and American Smooth Style dances specifically designed to strengthen and improve your dancing and dancing abilities.  Focusing on the elements that make Partner dancing more fluid, dynamic, powerful and fun: Hip Action (Rotation, Sinking, Isolation,  etc.) Foot action (motility, bounce, control, etc.), Arm Action & Rib-cage action (Isolation, Side Extension, etc.).   Developing these basic skills will improve your performance in not just this dance, but in all the dances by giving you more control over your balance, timing, power and expression.   Or, in other words, allowing you to dance freely and funly.

And that is just too much fun to miss out on!   So, what say you give it a try?  Eh?

11:00 – 11:30am:      Amalgamations.   Putting those drills you worked on in the first hour to work in the actual Figures of the dance, allowing you to develop more control over the steps, floor craft and yourself.

COST:  $15/person

               $10/person youth discount

December dance:   WALTZ   (possibly w/Viennese Waltz added)
