Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – April 4th 2022
Dear All,
Our thanks to all of you who showed up for the Dance Party last Friday. We had over 500 people show up . . . what? . . . oh . . . Peggy informs me that we actually had twelve people show up. But those twelve people had so much fun, 500 people would have been hard pressed to keep up (in the fun department, that is). No wonder I mistook the number of attendees for 500!
Let’s see; that comes out to about 41 people per person (41.6666 to be {relatively] precise), so each person individually had about 41 people’s worth of fun. If more of you come next time, maybe we can get the numbers up to 1,000 people’s worth of fun! Are you up to it (or up for it)?
Since we will be holding dance parties on the first Friday of each month, there will be another chance this coming May 6th to join in the festivities. We look forward to seeing you there then.
As this is a new month (April), we will be doing new dances: Quickstep on Wednesdays and Swing/Jive on Thursdays (times listed below). Usually, the Wednesday class is a little more advanced, but since the Quickstep is itself a slightly more advanced dance, we will be making it a Beginning class this month and really strengthen the basics. So, if you are a beginning student (or a newbie, as we like to call them) this class will pose no difficulty for any of you and we encourage you all to come learn it. It really is a very fun dance that will allow you to fly around the floor.
And we all know about Swing/Jive: Fun, fun, fun (fun music, fun steps, fun style, to be precise)!
You will learn all the basic figures and some exciting slightly more advanced figures as well. You will all have fun, fun, fun ‘till your daddies takes your T-Birds away! And then we say, “Ha-ha-ha, daddies . . . we are still going to have fun, fun, fun because we know how to Swing and Jive, now!
Make your lives daddy-proof by coming to the Swing/Jive class (and to make your lives really daddy-proof, come to the Quickstep classes as well! That’ll show those dadies!).
We look forward to seeing you all in class this week/month.
Cheers,
Rick and Peggy Nixon

p.s. Mask protocols are being relaxed in accordance with various studios around the state (and our own sick-to-deathedness of breathing filtered air). We will encourage the un-vaccinated to do what they feel is best for yourselves and will be happy to wear our masks when dealing specifically with you should you so desire. Otherwise, we are all on our own, now, as so-called adults should be. Make your decisions accordingly but make them based on real information.
