Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – May 30th 2022
Dear All,
First and foremost: Practice Party this Friday Night at the Lake Shastina Club House (address, directions and details given below at end of newsletter). This is our monthly dance party where everyone can come and practice all the dances they have been learning, socialize with your dancing friends and consort with your teachers. Fun will be had, skills will be sharpened and friendships will be made and/or strengthened. What more can one ask of a social event?
So, quick like bunnies (dancing bunnies, that is) come to classes this week and get the rudiments of Country Two Step and Cha-cha under your belts. That will make two dances fewer that you might have to otherwise sit out! And it will start (or continue) the process of learning these dances that will allow you to shine (if not command the floor) at July’s Practice Party!
We have an ambitious agenda (note the alliteration – we are always more serious when we alliterate) for the Country Two Step on Wednesday nights since we so seldom teach it. Still starting with the beginning steps, but we have high hopes of making sure everyone gets it and has . . . (what’s that magic word?) . . . oh yes . . . Fun (note the capitalization of the word “Fun” – we are always more serious when we capitalize – be prepared for Serious Fun!).
And the Cha-cha is always a blast to learn, to do and to see. We are teaching the International style figures because the figures are more closely tied to the actual Cha-cha rhythm (though the figures themselves are very close to the American Style figures). That way your feet will go cha-cha-cha when the music goes cha-cha-cha. Otherwise, what’s the point? Do you really want your feet to go cha-cha-cha when the music says “let’s take a nap”? We thought not.
We look forward to seeing you all in classes this week when we introduce the first lessons of the month. This would be a good time to bring friends, relatives, and unsuspecting strangers with you so that they can start at the beginning.
TTFN (Ta-Ta For Now). Or perhaps we should say SYAIC (See You All In Class)! To which you all reply: WWBT! (We Will Be There!).
Cheers,
Rick and Peggy Nixon

Otherwise, we are all on our own, now, as so-called adults should be. Make your decisions accordingly but make them based on real information. Don’t be afraid to wear them, but don’t feel that you must.
p.p.s. What do you call it when The Lone Ranger takes you out for dinner and a movie? A “masked man date”!
