Ballroom Newsletter, Sisikiyou County & Northern California – October 3rd 2022
Dear All,
A glorious new month and two glorious new dances! Bolero and Waltz! “But didn’t we just do Waltz in August?” I hear someone asking. Yes. But this time we are going to focus on the American style steps, which involves more underarm turning, more side-by-side steps (like grape-vines and flip-flops and more of all the other hyphenated {and non-hyphenated [why is the word “non-hyphenated” hyphenated?]} terms as well as some of the other fancy steps that involve dips and spins and maybe a picture-line or two.
Come on Wednesdays for the Bolero, the classiest of all the Latin Dances. Every move, every step of the Bolero screams elegance (or it would, if screaming were in any way elegant). If you never believed you could achieve elegance, come to class this month and prove yourself wrong. You can’t dance the Bolero without acquiring an elegance of your own.
And then come to class on Thursday and continue your training in elegance with the Waltz, an elegant dance in its own right. Come for the steps, come for the elegance, come for the fun. The operating word here is “come”. These steps don’t learn themselves, folks.
See you in classes this week.
Cheers,
Rick and Peggy Nixon
