Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – November 1st 2022

Dear All,

Finally.  We got some weather!    Too many weeks with very little to no weather (no: those empty, sun-shiny, clear and warm days do not qualify as weather because nothing is happening, just a series of bland, non-descript days, each one blending into the other as if they were all the same old, tired, boring day with only the slightest pretense of anything happening due to the occasional weak smattering of a cloud cover!).

We have loaded up the bed with the Winter Bedding (extra quilt, micro-fiber fleece sheets, light thermal blanketing, etc.) and just in time, too!  Plus, today we will be putting the summer clothes in storage and pulling out the winter clothing (which are always much more interesting) to hang in the closets instead.  Yay Winter!

Another cold-weather activity that will put a fire in people comes to mind almost unbidden: Dancing! (curiously enough!).  Why run up fuel bills to keep warm when you can fire up your innards with a physical activity like dancing that will warm the body up internally from the soles of your feet to the fibers of your muscles to the cockles of your heart (not to mention the heart of your cockles!).

We are continuing with the Bolero and the Waltz this month (November {since Thanksgiving renders this month shorter by a week}), but we will be doing different steps so that anyone new who wishes to join us can do so with relative impunity (and, no, “relative impunity” does not refer to a family member who is constantly getting away with murder!  It simply refers to a negligible, small price being paid for having missed some earlier instruction -so small, in fact, as to be almost non-existent.  Relative impunity: two words to replace twenty-one words).

And who knows, perhaps we will focus on a little more technique this month to get those muscles working even better (more efficiently, more effectively, more accurately) for even more internal heat generation, not to mention better dancing.

Come join us and see what we have in mind for you this month!  You won’t be sorry!

.

Cheers,

Rick and Peggy Nixon

p.s.  We have relaxed Mask Protocols..  We will encourage the un-vaccinated to do what you feel is best for yourselves and will happily don our own masks when dealing with you specifically should you so desire.  Otherwise, we are all on our own, now, as so-called adults should be.  Make your decisions accordingly but make them based on real information.  Don’t be afraid to wear them, but don’t feel that you must.

p.p.s.    What do you call it when The Lone Ranger takes you out for dinner and a movie?  A “masked man date”!
