Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – December 6th 2022

Dear All,

Here we are again after a brief hiatus, which finds everyone at this address revived, in good health and high spirits.  And, best of all, we still have four classes for each dance for December!

If you’re looking for Festive, dances just don’t get much more festive than Samba.  Lively, bright and energetic, one feels better just hearing the music.  And you won’t have to just hear the music!  You actually get to learn the proper steps and movements to perk up your wow (as well as wow your friends and family!

Samba will be taught (and learned) on Wednesdays this week.  Don’t miss the first one for best results, but if you do miss it, we will still make sure that you get everything you need to shine and be shiny.

And on Thursday’s, it will be Viennese Waltz, the Christmas-iest of all the ballroom dances (not to be confused with the nap one takes after Christmas Dinner, which is known as Christmas-siesta).  Nothing is more elegant than you in your Christmas finery sailing sedately (if a little quickly) around the ballroom floor in 6/8 time, your skill and said finery coalescing into a panache of verve and elegance.

And if not for that, do it for you own good health!  Who among us does not remember the cautionary poem that was drilled into us in childhood:

Because he never danced Viennese,

He suffered so from weakened knees

And was easy prey for Peckinese.

Pay heed to warnings such as these!

Why. I remember it as if it were yesterday.  Unwilling to have these woes visited upon yourselves, we exhort you heartily to come learn this dance for the sake of elegance and to keep you all from going to the dogs.

We look forward to seeing you all in classes this week.  Join us to make this the first festive week of an even more festive season!

Cheers,

Rick and Peggy Nixon

p.s.  We have relaxed Mask Protocols..  We will encourage the un-vaccinated to do what you feel is best for yourselves and will happily don our own masks when dealing with you specifically should you so desire.  Otherwise, we are all on our own, now, as so-called adults should be.  Make your decisions accordingly but make them based on real information.  Don’t be afraid to wear them, but don’t feel that you must.

p.p.s.    What do you call it when The Lone Ranger takes you out for dinner and a movie?  A “masked man date”!
