Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – January 16th 2024

Dear All,

Happy New Year, everybody!  Yes, this week we are finally starting our January classes which means January is officially starting this week.  So: Happy New Year, everybody!

Join us Wednesday night for Tango, one of the more dramatic dances (if not the most dramatic dance!) in our pantheon of ballroom dances. But it is really fun drama.  One of our main coaches, Steven Cullip (five-time US Ballroom champions in the International {English} style) used to tell us that, even when done absolutely correctly, the Tango is a parody of itself.

So come have fun with us and fun with your fellow classmates and, finally, fun with the Tango.  We will, as always, be teaching it in a supporting, nurturing fashion and leave all the drama to you.  Don’t disappoint us.  That will be Wednesday nights at 6:45 pm (and will probably extend into February as well).

Then, as if you already will have not had that much fun this week, Salsa on Thursday nights (!) (also 6:45 pm) which should just about fill your capacity for fun to over-flowing.  If you have never experienced over-flowing fun, you owe it to yourselves to come to classes this month (and next, due to popular demand) just to be able to tell your grandchildren: “yes . . . yes, I remember 2024.  That was the year when I experienced over-flowing fun beyond my capacity to process it, and . . .” (that’s when you kick the bucket, leaving your grandchildren in wonder at the whole idea of so much fun in one (two?) experience(s?)).

The time to start planning experiences with the express purpose of relating them to your grandchildren is now!  It is never too early but, too often, it can be too late!  Come to classes this week and get cracking!  ‘Nuff said.

As always, we look forward to seeing all of you again this week.  These will be the beginning levels of both dances so you won’t want to miss them.  Especially because, for both dances, we will spend February learning some of the more advanced steps.

Cheers,

Rick and Peggy Nixon
