Ballroom Newsletter – September 17th 2013

Dear Dancer,

Well, it’s here. For all of you who have been asking about a place to dance the dances you have been learning, an opportunity has finally arrived. We have been helping the Siskiyou Media Council promote the Siskiyou Big Band’s “Swing Into Autumn” Dance and Concert for a couple of months now and finally, it’s here.

We have listened and danced to the Siskiyou Big Band ourselves and we can guarantee that whether you dance or just sit and listen, you will have a good time. They are terrific. (If you are not too sure about your dancing skills, pretend you are coming to just listen, but then when you think no one is watching, sneak in a dance or two. But do it early, because once you start, you will want to dance the rest of the night away.)

The affair is being catered by some of the best restaurants and brewery in Siskiyou County, so your mouths will have almost as good a time as your feet (when was the last time you could say that?!)

Good music, good food, good company (music, dance and food aficionados); could one ask for a better way to spend the last day of Summer? Well, we could, and that would be to ask to see as many of you there as possible. And (since we are volunteering our time and efforts) we mean that in its most altruistic sense.

Address, times and tickets information are listed in the Saturday Night section below, but to save you time, we will repeat it here:

Where:           McCloud Dance Hall, 104 Pine St., McCloud CA 96057

When:             Saturday, September 21st, 2013

What Time:    6:00 pm to 10:00 pm

How Much:   $25/person, $45/couple (tickets will be available at the door)

Why:                As they say on the coast, “for the Halibut” (disclaimer: though there will be lots of really good food there, there is no guarantee that halibut will actually be served).

Dress:              Siskiyou Chic (fancy schmancy term for dress for fun: dressy or casual or period costume or come as you are

Who: Why, you , of course. See you there.

Oh, and don’t forget, we will be teaching Swing all week long in our Wellness Center evening classes so if you want to learn some steps or just brush up in order to enjoy yourselves even more, you are welcome to join us.

See you on the dance floor.
