Ballroom Newsletter, Siskiyou County & Northern California – May 31st 2016
Dear All,
A wonderful time was had by all at Tony and Terry’s Anniversary celebration and dance party. Tony and Terry performed a lovely waltz and quickstep; there was ballroom dancing, a Scottish Country Dance, an English Country Dance, the Merengue was taught . . . we even had a conga line!
It was fun and we would like to thank Tony and Terry for sticking it out for 25 years just so that all of you could have a chance to dance (if for no other reason). We wish them the best and we encourage you all to stick around to see their 50th Anniversary dance performance. It will be out of this world!
Good news!!! There is another chance to dance this weekend at the McCloud Dance Hall! The country dancers are coming up from Sacramento and we will be holding -what has apparently become- our Annual Country/Ballroom Jamboree (for want of a more precise term).
For those of you who have never attended one of these (this is the fourth…fifth? year we have held them), it is a mix of dance styles: we alternate playing country dance music (and some line dances, too) with ballroom so that everyone gets to dance and everyone gets to socialize in between their dance of preference. The ballroom dances will include Salsa, Foxtrot, Bolero, Tango, Waltz, Quickstep, Cha-cha, Samba, Jive and any other dance you may want to do. We will always be open to requests.
That’s the Country/Ballroom Jamboree, this Saturday night (June 4th) at the McCloud Dance Hall starting at 7:30 pm (cost $5). Be there or be square dancers.
And finally: No, Virginia, it isn’t a typo . . . Before any of you call us on the phone, or e-mail us, or send telegrams or arrange for couriers to come to our front door, please know that the fact that Tango appears twice in the following list of dances is not an error. It is just that Tuesday is the last day of May, when Tango was the beginning dance, and Wednesday is the first day of June, when Tango becomes the Intermediate-beginning dance. So, you get Tango twice this week. This happens between 3 to 5 times a year. Take advantage of it.
See You There.
